Barbara Gaines, a 1975 graduate of George W. Hewlett High School and 1979 graduate of Ithaca College with a BA in educational television,〔(Barbara Gaines bio )〕 is Executive Producer of the ''Late Show with David Letterman''. She has held that position since May 2000. She began her association with David Letterman in 1980 as a production assistant on ''The David Letterman Show'' and has risen through the ranks. She has held such positions as production coordinator and assistant producer. In eleven years as a producer on the show, she has had eleven Emmy nominations and won 5 consecutive awards for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Program. She has also worked on production for the Orange Bowl Parade; ''One of the Boys'', a comedy series starring Mickey Rooney, Nathan Lane and Dana Carvey, and '' The $50,000 Pyramid''.〔 She made the 2008 Ten Amazing Gay Women in Showbiz… list.〔(Power Up Top Ten )〕 ==Personal== Born on June 10, 1957, "she lives in New York with her partner of 15 years, Aari Blake Ludvigsen and son, Simon Michael Ludvigsen Gaines."〔 In 2008, they married in San Francisco.〔(LIVE:The TV Blog (NY Post) )〕 Barbara Gaines belongs to Congregation Beit Simchat Torah (CBST), the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Straight Synagogue in New York, and in 2010 did a video with the Strength Through Community project at CBST about her life and experiences.
